Advances in Sustainable Bioproduction
and AI-Driven Biotechnology
The focus of this special issue is on the latest innovations in sustainable bioproduction and the utilization of artificial intelligence in biotechnological processes. Aligning with the topics of the European Summit of Industrial Biotechnology 2024 (esib 2024), the issue will address the emerging trends in bioeconomy and biopharma, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies and their societal impact.
Scope of the Special Issue:
The main scope of the special issue focused on ‘Advances in Sustainable Bioproduction and AI-Driven Biotechnology’ would be to offer highlights in the field covering innovative methodologies that improve the efficiency and sustainability of biotechnological and pharmaceutical manufacturing, tackle environmental challenges, and utilize AI to enhance these processes.
In this special issue, we will explore the potential of new sustainable bioproduction technologies, AI-driven approaches, and their synergistic effects on the biotechnology sector.

Possible research topics include but are not limited to:
- Sustainable bioproduction for biotechnology and pharmaceuticals
- AI and machine learning applications in bioprocess optimization

All manuscripts will receive expedited handling and the accepted version will appear online within one week. Please note that every accepted paper is subjected to a processing fee as per Elsevier’s open access journal policies.
